Michelle and Greg’s house had a stunning view, but the house was anything but stunning. The tired exterior of white brick with burgundy trim made the house look like it was trapped in another decade. The glass enclosed sunroom in the back and solarium jutting out from the front facade weren’t enough “outdoor” space for the family to entertain. The house was large, but boxy and didn’t feel welcoming or charming. The interior didn’t function for the family and everything was outdated.

Normally when people ask me if I can transform their home into something beautiful, without hesitation I say yes. This time I hesitated. Instead of answering the question, I ask about their vision. Michele and Greg started talking about southern charm, sumptuous interiors and porches everywhere. As soon as they said porches everywhere, I knew it was going to work. –Peter

The house received a complete and total remodel. On the exterior we added architectural elements to the front, side, and rear of the home. We created dimension and depth with porches, patios, balconies, and decking. The windows were replaced, the roof style was changed, and a pool was added to dramatically update the feel, function, and style of this home.

On the interior it was all about the views. One of the most important changes was in opening up the kitchen to that view. An eat in area with comfy banquette to talk to the cook while entertaining or just relax with a book or magazine and enjoy the surroundings. A grand staircase welcomes you into the home, but cozy family spaces still make the home livable, while being stately.

The ultimate in privacy for him and her in the bathroom was a priority with two vanities but instead of being placed side by side, they faced each other with a wall in between. We also created separate toilet areas.

From the Client

We hired Peter to redesign a large (8000sqft) “aesthetically challenged” home in an ideal location. It was a complicated project, and I am probably more opinionated than many clients, but Peter is a joy to work with and extremely patient. He had a beautiful vision, which has ended up being just right for our family and truly is our dream home. The home functions very well and is gorgeous. Peter listened carefully to the things that were important to our family and definitely made those a priority, even while working within the constraints of a bizarrely built original home.I recommend him highly and can’t wait to see pictures of the finished house on this site!
