Valerie and Jonathan loved their Cockeysville, Maryland property… but their existing home was not designed to take advantage of the surrounding scenery. The home was old, the interiors dark, and the materials were outdated. The home did not reflect their lifestyle or their design aesthetic. We re-envisioned the entire home and completed renovated it from top to bottom. This video shows a tour of the renovated home.
This reimagining of their home brought the outdoors in with ample windows, especially in the redesigned center section. We also re-worked the existing deck to keep it from blocking the view out of the new family room. We opened the home up for entertaining and brought a one-of-a-kind architectural style to the home. Of note, we relocated the front door so that it could be seen from the driveway. Especially at nite, visitors traveling down their very long driveway, see the front entrance as a welcoming beacon in the darkness.
From the Client
Peter Twohy of 2e architects was engaged to transform a 33 year old ranch, situated on a large wooded lot, into a contemporary and timeless home that merged the setting with the interior. Peter succeeded in getting to know our preferences, priorities and esthetic and in translating our ideas into reality. This was our first experience working with an architect, and we felt that Peter was welcoming of new ideas and open to differences of opinion but also appropriately directive when he believed we were making a mistake. He was effective in helping the builder and engineer work as a team and to keep the project (mostly) within budget. The result was a home and an experience that far exceeded our expectations.
